The first of season Talbot County MOS Chapter Birdwalk took place this
morning, with 8 birders making it out on a quite pleasant day.  Jan Reese
led the group, and the visit sites included Black Walnut Point and Tilghman
Park (for a few more shore birds).
 
A total of 60 species were seen or heard.
 
Highlights:
    Yellow Warbler
    Black-and-White Warbler
    American Redstart (m & f)
    A pair of migrating Kestrels
    Cooper's Hawk
    Red-tailed Hawk
    Snowy Egret
    Several Blue-gray Gnatcatchers
    Semipalmated Sandpipers
    Semipalmated Plover
    Common Terns feeding young
    Fly-overs of Barn Swallows, Purple Martins, Tree Swallows and Chimney
Swifts
    Ruby-throated Hummingbirds
    Woodpeckers including Downy, Red-bellied, Flicker and a young Pileated
    Several Bald Eagles
    On the pound nets - numerous Double-crested Cormorants, also Ring-billed
Gulls, Herring Gulls, Great Black-backed Gulls and many Osprey.
    Wild Turkey
    Great Crested Flycatcher
    Kingbirds (many).
 
Jan Reese will be leading birders to that site each Sunday  Morning
throughout the month of August, with departure from the St Michaels Village
meeting place at 7:00 a.m.
