Hello,
I received the following message from a park patron, hoping someone can
help her with her bird problems. Please respond directly to Nancy (info
at bottom of her message), if so.

Thanks,

Kathy/Mellisa,

I don't know if you are the right people to ask about this problem.
If not maybe you can direct me to the correct people. I have been on
nature bird walks at Hashawha so I'm pretty sure someone maybe able to
help me.

I keep my horse at a local farm. We love hearing the birds in the
barn and watching them raise their young.
However, this year the bird population has exploded in the stable.
Bird dropping are all over the stable doors, in the feed tubs, and water
buckets, as will as the aisle ways. Not good for the horses - or us!

We have had suggestions from several people:

      1) Poison the birds - Are they crazy??? Not an option!
      2) Place fake snakes (ugh - from here on after referred to as
"those things". Some of the
boarders find even the fake present of those things just too
repulsive. Anyway, is it
true that it would chase away the birds?
      3) Board of the places the birds of nesting. Not an option, since
the barn is too big. It would
          be a remodeling job.
      4) Place fake Owls in the barn. Would this help? Would the
birds even care?

Thank you for any help you can give us on this matter.

  Happy birding!
