Hi list!

I took advantage of a day off today to spend an HOUR censusing (from 1045 to 1145) the hummers that have been much in evidence lately.  Here are the unscientific results for visits to my 3-port hummzinger attached to my patio door in Broad Run, S FRED county:

Femal/immature:  24
Male: 1
Unidentified: 1

Not counted: 9+
usually due to conflict at the feeder where a feeding bird was interrupted by a new arrival resulting in both flying off with one returning momentarily. The returnee was censused sometimes, but not other times depending on my "gut" feeling about it's status as "new"

I have no idea how often birds might have been repeat visitors, of course.

On two occasions two birds momentarily fed at the same time - behavior that i had not observed previously except once before the previous evening.

The only male observed dispaced a female/immature bird at the feeder.

Where i was able to, i looked for bands but saw none.

Sorry for any typos - my time is limited at the BRUNSWICK library computer...
