We temporarily experimented with a new hummingbird feeder that attracted
only yellow jackets. We've returned to the old one and the hummingbirds
have returned but the yellow jackets haven't left and they seem to keep
the hummers from feeding. Time after time we've seen the hummer
approach, be threatened by a wasp, fly off and try to return only to be
driven away. Any suggestions for weighting the battle on the
hummingbird side?
We've thought of setting a half-empty soda can nearby to distract the
wasps but I'm afraid it might just bring more.,
