While walking back from a meeting, I spotted an adult breeding plumage Black-crowned Night Heron on a log next to Schoolhouse Pond in Upper Marlboro.  The bird appeared to be in full breeding plumage, with the long plum coming down the back of the neck.  I've seen juvenile and 2nd summer Black-crowned Night Herons here this summer, but this the first adult I've seen this year.  Also present were 2 Great Blue Herons, 1 Green Heron and Trumpeter Swan #962.
