I had about 15-20 spare minutes this evening so I stopped at North
Branch. One of the first birds I spotted among the 2 or 3 Lesser
Yellowlegs, a single Greater Yellowlegs and about 5 Least Sandpipers and
20 Killdeer +/- was a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE. It was pretty far out in
the pond way in the back where they spray lots of brown much but the
bird looked very white (I at first thought it was a Wilsons but then
noticed the dark around the eye and some blackish coloration remaining
on the upperparts). I called a few local folks and David Yeany arrived
and was able to see the bird before I had to leave.
