On my way south to look for the MIKIs this morning, I stopped by the
Halethorpe ponds, Baltimore Co. where I found an adult LITTLE BLUE HERON
sitting on a mud flat at the NW corner of the largest pond. Other birds of
interest were 3 Green Herons, 1 Great Egret, 3 Laughing Gulls, 4 fly-over
Caspian Terns, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 3 Killdeer, 4-5
Baltimore Orioles, 1 Orchard Oriole, and 1 Prothonotary Warbler.

The two hour long wait for the kites to finally make an appearance around
12:30-12:45PM was well rewarded with excellent views of two adult birds
hawking insects right overhead and spent most of their time over the
boardwalk and over the field at the end of the boardwalk. I got some
pretty decent photos that I will post on my flickr page soon. Of course, I
cannot forget to thank the many Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Red-tailed Hawks,
Cooper's Hawks, and calling Yellow-billed Cuckoos for their entertainment.

A great day to be out!
