MD Osprey:

Gary Allport just mentioned hearing a Common Raven in DC. This caused
me to check on the status of the documentation for this species in DC
(even though Common Raven is no longer "reviewable" in DC).

In our Official DC and MD Checklists, we indicate the status of the
type of documentation that exists for each species, including museum
specimens, as well as published photographs/video footage, audio
recordings, and detailed written reports.

For some not-so-rare DC species, for which no specimen exist, we are
not aware of any published photos. Therefore, we are soliciting
either existing or future photos of these species. If anyone knows of
any published photos, taken in DC, of these species, please let us
know. Or, if you see these non-review species in DC in the future,
photos would be appreciated.

Here is the list of the more common, non-reviewable DC species for
which we would still like to capture photographs:

         Snow Goose
         Gadwall
         Redhead
Great Egret (should be easy at KAG ...)
         Snowy Egret (ditto)
         Cattle Egret
         Yellow-crowned Night-Heron
         Glossy Ibis
         American Coot
         American Golden-Plover
         Ruddy Turnstone
         White-rumped Sandpiper
         Short-billed Dowitcher
         Long-billed Dowitcher
         Iceland Gull
         Lesser Black-backed Gull
         Glaucous Gull
         Great Black-backed Gull
         Least Tern
         Caspian Tern
         Chuck-will's-widow
         Olive-sided Flycatcher
         Common Raven
         Common Redpoll

Since these species are not "reviewable" in DC, the photos will not
be formally reviewed, but we will add them to our archives and update
the DC Official List species documentation status accordingly. Some
people probably already have copies of photos for some of these
species, such as the gulls.

FYI ... the "Official List" of DC birds here is ...

Thanks to Gary Allport and his wife, we took recent took Pine Siskin
off this list, and thanks to Wallace Kornack, we took Prothonotary
Warbler off this list. These changes in the documentation status will
show up with the next list web update.

Thanks!

Phil
