I spent the morning at Middle Patuxent Environmental Area today. It was a rewarding morning. From 7:00-9:00, in the Clegg Meadow, highlight, Blackburnian Warbler in the area behind the houses and a real early White-throated Sparrow that sang at the top of Clegg Meadow.

From 9:00-11:00, I did the Southwind Trail. As I usually do, however, I take the first right, and follow that trail (Orange, I think), down to the river, turn left, and eventually hitch up with the main loop. More river that way. Bridges have recently been installed on three of the four stream crossings. I suspect the fourth will be soon, the other three are newly installed, and one still smelled of freshly sawn wood. Highlight of the Southwind Trail was the Philly Vireo along the river, a short distance west of the big hill, and some outstanding looks at a Worm-eating Warbler a bit east from there.
