MD: Prince Georges Co: Potomac River:
viewed from the George Washington Parkway pullout across from Ft Washington.

Saturday, 6 Sep 2008: 1435 to 1445 EDT
24 C, N circa 35 km/hr; light rain

Great Blue Heron 1
Laughing Gull 5
Ring-Billed Gull 6
Sooty Tern 2 [1 adult, 1 juvenile; headed downstream c 1440]
Forster's Tern 4

We had rushed to the pullout from Riverside Park after getting Paul Pisano's phone call saying two Sooties that had passed Hains Point at 1420. We assumed we intercepted the same two birds, as it seemed easily possible that they could have covered the cira 17 km along the river in 20 minutes. But when we arrived back at Hains Point later in the afternoon, we learned the Sooties that Dave Czaplak, Mike Bowen, and Paul had seen were both adults.
