Hi Everyone,

Jim Green, Duvall Sollars and I birded portions of the Eastern Shore yesterday. We thought there was going to be a nice influx of migrants, but that was not the case. We did however see some very nice birds during the days outing. Highlights follow.

Terrapin Park - Several small migrant flocks, the first held the most surprising bird of the day being a Hooded Warbler. Other nice bird in the flock was a Philly Vireo which I missed. Another flock held a Least Flycatcher. Two Sanderlings were also seen on the beach.

At Rt 662 and Mill Creek in Talbot County - Jim Green had a Bay-breasted Warbler. Other warblers seen were B & W and Redstarts.

Western Meadowlark spot - No meadowlarks present.

Puckum Road - Nice flock of warblers with Parula, B & W, Redstarts, Pine. Other nice birds seen were Scarlet Tanager and YB Cuckoo.

We ended the day at Horsehead (Sorry, I forgot its new name) where in a short time we found eleven species of shorebirds with the best being 10-12 Stilt Sandpipers, 20+ Short-billed Dowitchers and 8-10 Dunlin. The shorebird habitat was great and there were hundreds of shorebirds present. Also seen was a Glossy Ibis.

Good birding,
