I have been noticing a lot of crickets in my yard lately. More than I normally would see. They are all different sizes and colors. Is there something special about crickets and this time of year? Is anyone noticing these crickets too?
Also I would think the birds would love to eat them. Sunday morning I noticed that there were two Brown Thrashers in my yard pecking at the leaves and moving things around. At first I thought they were Flickers but the color was more toward the Brown Thrashers. I have had some young Brown Thrashers in my yard off and on since June. So I am sure it is the same two I have been seeing maybe they were eating the crickets?

Something exciting for me to see something other than my usuals, I saw an Eastern Phoebe in my yard this evening. It was perched on a hook holding my feeder down by the goldfish pond.
