This Wednesday, April 16th, come kick off the 2008-2009 birding year
with us. Hear and see "Birding Uganda: The Pearl of Africa," presented
by Gail Mackiernan. The small country of Uganda, an increasingly popular
birding destination, bridges the faunal zones of East and Central Africa
and has one of the continent's largest bird lists. Gail and Barry Cooper
recently spent 25 days in Uganda visiting most of the major game and
national parks, recording almost 550 species of birds, including
Shoebill, African Broadbill, Giant Eagle Owl and Pennant-winged
Nightjar, and enjoying superb scenery, including Murchison Falls, Lake
Victoria and the misty Virunga Mountains. Please come and enjoy Gail's
slides of this trip.

Meetings are held at the Potomac Presbyterian Church, 10301 River Road
(1/4 mile past Falls Road in Potomac). Doors open at 7:00, refreshments
at 7:30, meeting starts at 8:00. All are welcome.
