This morning I went up to Dan's Rock summit to watch for migrant raptors.
Unfortunately a very low cloud ceiling combined with some fog to make
conditions less than desirable. However, quite a few warblers were around
with BLACKPOLL being the most common. The absolute highlight, though, was a
juvenile PEREGRINE FALCON which flew over about 20 feet above my head! It
didn't just zip on by; however, it circled above my head for several
minutes, trying to catch the wind. Then it turned back northward and
proceeded to go after a Turkey Vulture -- hitting it several times from a
dive! Incredible. I only wish I'd had my camera! Complete list follows:
