Hi All,

I made today into a birding day and joined a group of folks who were
going on a Poplar Island Trip. Before the trip to the island I ran into
Jim Stasz who told me of a flyby GREAT CORMORANT. On a whim (I think)
he gave a scan of the birds on the block nets and then motioned to me to
come look through his scope. We also had a MERLIN there. I won't try
to list all the birds we had at Poplar Island but some highlights were
AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER - 1, AMERICAN AVOCET - 2, and WHITE-RUMPED
SANDPIPER (3 or 4 I think). We also had numbers of Western, Semi, and
Least Sandpipers, Semipalmated Plovers, a few RUDDY TURNSTONES,
Black-bellied Plovers and some of the other more common shorebirds
including Yellowlegs and Killdeer (hmm I'm sure I'm forgetting a few
things).

After we left there I visited the Chesapeake Environmental Center
with a few folks from the trip finding much of the same stuff I had
there on Sunday plus or minus a few things added Blue Grosbeaks and
Brown-headed Nuthatches, and Eastern Bluebirds.

Then I left there and stopped at Terrapin Point Park. I only stayed
about 15 minutes but I managed to see a CONNECTICUT WARBLER just past a
wooden ramp that overlooks the "Prairie Meadow" just before the trail
runs into the woods.

I managed a few rather un-sharp photos ... the best of which is here ...

then they get even more blurry but they offer some other angles of viewing.

Good Birding,
