While inspecting the recent towpath collapse just downriver from the opening to Widewater we came across flocks of mixed warblers in the trees on the berm side of the canal at the Angler's Inn canal bridge and also in the parking lot. Identified were male and female Redstarts, also Northern Parula, Magnolia, Black and White and Yellow-rumped. In addition were the usual birds: Pileated, Red-bellied and Downy Woodpecker, White-breasted Nuthatch, Chickadee,Tufted Titmouse,Blue Jay, flocking Robins, American Crow, and Carolina Wren.
