As of today we still have a couple of hummers hanging around. This is
probably a late date for us that, of course, will be blamed on global
warming. Birds coming home and nesting sooner, staying longer, etc etc.
We're two days away from October and I am sitting here sweating. Of course
most of that is humidity, but as a kid I can remember seeing snow in late
Sept. Never mind that I grew up in a snow belt in NW PA.
This AM I went out and sweated around some trails in back of Hashawa on
some county land and found a Black-throated Blue male. These birds often
travel in pairs but I was unsuccessful in finding the wife. It was the only
mentionable bird. The rest were unmentionables.
Anybody got a towel?
