Hello all.
The Fort Smallwood Park Bird Club had its monthly walk yesterday and found a few seasonal favorites.
Highlights were 2 Magnolia Warblers, 1 Yellow Warbler and a very cooperative adult Bald Eagle perched on a snag over the pond until it was chased off by an immature of the same species.
The Maryland Native Plant Society also had a nature walk yesterday, led by Hal Wirenga. The found Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Baltimore Oriole and Sharp-shinned Hawk among others.
Between Hal's walk and mine we also had a total of 34 Monarch butterflies. Hal also added 9 Painted Lady, 21 Sachem and several other species.
It was a good day.
