Dear All
Having been out of town for a couple of weeks I am still catching up on a host of things so wasn't able to get to Rock Creek this morning as I would have liked. But I did manage to check the local local patch after dropping my son at school - the allotments by Melvin Hazen Park on Sedgwick St. I was thinking I might get FOS White-throated Sparrow but to my surprise I found a spanking 1st winter White-crowned Sparrow along with about five migrant Song Sparrows. It was very obliging and I got cracking views. I'm sure it will hang about if anyone wants to see it.
The area was quite birdy and also thereabouts were 4 B t Green Warblers, 2 Redstarts, 1 Maggie, 2 Yellowthroats plus a nice group of Golfinches, a House Wren, two Catbirds, a Flicker and 2-3 House Finches. I had about 30 Blue Jays go over too.
I wait with trepidation on this morning's report from the 'yard.... Wallace?
Cheers
Gary Allport
