Those of you on MDOsprey who also enter your sightings into eBird may
be interested to learn that the NIH Animal Center near Poolesville,
MD, is now an eBird "Shared Location" or Hot Spot.

This is the place that hosted the singing male Henslow's Sparrow
earlier this summer, which many MDOspreyers went to hear and see. You
will recall that due to the efforts of NIH staff member John Newman
(a birder), the management of the Center put off cutting the field
that the Henslow's frequented so as not to disturb it, which was much
appreciated by the birding community.

If, like me you created an eBird Personal Location called "Club
Hollow Rd." (or something similar, since that's where we all went to
look for the bird), you can now merge your Personal Location with the
new Shared Location for the NIH Animal Center. Just go to My eBird,
Manage my Locations, Edit, and choose Merge when you see the Google
map. You will see the new Shared Location as a red 'stickpin' right
in the middle of the property. That way, all observations for the
site will be grouped together in the eBird data base.

If there are questions on just how to go about the merging (which is
entirely optional, but desirable), please contact me off-line. Thanks.
