Hi Folks,

With no school on Thursday, I took off Friday as well and headed west, 
birding Carroll to Garrett.  Highlights were LINCOLN'S SPARROW in Frederick 
Co., N. GOSHAWK in Garrett, and RUFFED GROUSE, LINCOLN'S SPARROW, VESPER 
SPARROW, and DICKCISSEL in Alegany Co.  Had a few migrant warblers, along 
with some lingerers and a few early ducks.  Sapsuckers and Blue-headed 
Vireos were abundant.  I birded solo on Thursday and Friday, then was joined 
by Tom Feild for an enjoyable day in Alegany Co. on Sat.  Here's the

    Mt. Nebo--almost birdless; I was thinking visiting here in the early 
afternoon was a total waste of time, until an immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK went 
sailing over.  It was heading north, which suggests to me it could be one of 
the local birds, rather than a migrant.
