It turns out that the Palm Warbler I saw last Saturday (Oct. 11) was a new 
species for my yard list! Black-throated Blues have also been relatively 
noticeable here among the fall migrants, which are definitely an improvement 
over last year's sparse selection.

Yesterday I saw my first-of-season Junco. It took me a moment to recognize 
it -- after all, with near-80-degree temps and a catbird calling, how can it 
be "winter" already?
