Good election day morning for sparrows at Blue Mash near Olney. I had a
Lincoln's for a brief moment and was trying to pish it back out to
photograph. Instead of the Lincoln's, two Fox Sparrows came out and allowed
me to take good close range shots. All told I had 3 Lincoln's, 2 Fox, 1
White-crowned, 8 Field, 10 Song, 12 Swamp, and over 25 White-throated. Also
found 2 Brown Creepers (FOY for me) and over 40 Green-winged Teal. Good
movement overhead of robins, bluejays, waxwings and flickers.

Also want to belatedly report a walk through Hughes Hollow on Sunday. I had
my whole family in tow and we started late in the morning but still managed
to see some good birds: 6 Red-headed Woodpeckers, 5 Purple Finches, 2
Ravens, 2 Winter Wrens, 6 Wood Ducks, 1 Phoebe, and, at the Polo Grounds,
over 60 Horned Larks. The Red-headeds, Wrens and Finches were life birds for
two of my sons who are now keeping life-lists.
