Hi All,
I just got back from doing some birding somewhere near my house in
Frostburg, Maryland (yes I'm being purposefully vague here). I had a
special treat in the form of a Long-eared Owl. I was specifically
looking for Saw-whets and/or Long-eared's by looking up for spots that
looked dense enough to provide cover and by looking down for pellets and
whitewash. I feel very fortunate to have finally found one in Allegany
County (a first for me) and this is also the first one I've found
completely on my own which gives me joy and motivation to keep looking.
I got a couple of photos. They aren't the greatest but they'll do.
