A single basic-plumaged Bonaparte's was present along the Howard County shore of Triadelphia this morning from at least 10:15 through10:45. It was initially visible from the Dam, but had moved to the other side of the peninsula by the time I got to the boat ramp at Greenbridge.

I was originally going to entitle this post

Howard County Waterfowl: There Aren't Any

I visited Lake Elkhorn, Wilde Lake, and Centennial Lake. Aside from Canada Geese of questionable origin (including a hybrid at Centennial with white face and orange bill), Mallards, and mongrel ducks at Elkhorn, the sole other duck was a male Ring-billed Duck on Forebay Pond at Elhorn. I suspect this duck may be injured, there were some primaries in places they shouldn't have been, obscuring the flank panels of the duck.

Triadelphia helped redeem the morning. Aside from the Bonaparte's, there were:

Pied-billed Grebe - 1
Double-crested Cormorant - 2
Ring-billed Gull - 8

All were on the Howard side.

Non-waterfowl inlcuded

Elkhorn - Eastern Bluebirds - 2

Wilde - Eastern Bluebirds - 2, Golden-crowned Kinglet - 1, Yellow-rumped Warlber - 2

Centennial - Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1

Centennial is hosting a doggie event today, with the area around the Pavilion given over to vendors and information booths. And lots of canines around.
