This announcement appeared in today's The Gazette. This might be an opportunity for the birding community to weigh in on opening other areas of the refuge to the public.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is having an "open house" public information meeting as part of its transportation planning study for the Patuxent Research Refuge, from 7-8:30 p.m. today (Thursday, Nov 13) at the National Wildlife Visitor Center, 10901 Scarlet Tanager Loop.

The refuge is seeking comments from the community, including potential transportation improvements.

"We're assessing the current traffic structure around the center," said Brad Knudsen, refuge manager. "We're looking for input from the public on what they would like to see at the refuge."

Kundsen said attendees are invited to come and speak with the regure staff.

For more information, contact Knudsen at 301-497-5582
