The Howard County Bird Club conducted its annual Waterfowl Search today, and
I think all would agree that while it wasn't replete with waterfowl, we did
enjoy a good day.

The highlight, unquestionably was an immature Golden Eagle seen from the dam
at Triadelphia about 12:15 flying from Howard to Montgomery. It was
distant, but well seen by most.

Another nice goodie was SIX Cackling Geese out by the pipeline at
Greenbridge. They were seen in flight and kept together, among much larger
numbers of Canadas.

An immature Snow Goose was among the Canadas at Centennial. And a big,
wierd hybrid goose.

Elkhorn had 23 Ring-necked Ducks, 7 Pied-billed Grebes, 1 Ruby-crowned
Kinglet, 8 Cedar Waxwings, 1 Winter Wren, and 1 Fox Sparrow.

Wilde Lake was devoid of interest, but produced the only Dark-eyed Juncos of
the trip.

Centennial had 1 American Coot, 2 Pied-billed Grebes, hundreds of Canadas,
and the Snow Goose.

Triadelphia had 5 Great Blue Herons, 24 Ring-billed Gulls, 2 Bufflehead, 7
Ruddy Ducks, several hundred Canadas, and the little flock of Cacklings,
plus the Golden Eagle. We could not locate a Bald Eagle!
