Several interesting birds in east Columbia today (11/18). This morning there were two female/young male Purple Finches at the home bird feeders; the first ones I've seen actually visit our feeders this fall. Midday at the Elkhorn Garden Plots there was a Fox Sparrow joining the more common whitethroats along with one male Eastern Towhee, two Field Sparrows, and a small flock of Cedar Waxwings feeding on crab apple fruits. Most of the birds were in the NE corner of the gardens keeping out the wind, I guess.
