My first trip to LB in two months. Because of the weather I wasn't
expecting much, and that turned out to be correct - my lowest species
count ever at LB: 10. The only consolation is that I got more exercise
than usual - didn't have to keep stopping to look at the birds.
I expected wind, but on the ground it was light to nil. However, at the
treetops and higher, it was formidable. I watched an interesting
strategy in a flock of crows trying to fly into the wind. Some would
remain more or less stationary, flapping just enough to stay in place
and gain altitude slowly. Then they would dive down and forward to make
headway. (They would have done better to fly through the trees near the
ground, where the wind was much calmer.)
