I didn't have a whole lot of time for birding this weekend, but did get
out for a little bit each morning. Saturday (11/15) I went to Hains Pt
where the highlight was 2 TUNDRA SWANS flying downriver. Otherwise it
was dismal for ducks, but the number of gulls was massive. In this hour
or so that I was there I counted at least 700 LAUGHING GULLS, but there
were probably more. All the gulls were working their way up the Potomac
from the Wilson Bridge and then heading up the Anacostia. I assume
they're heading to Brown Station or some other landfill in that
vicinity.

Saturday at dusk I did another quick spin around Hains, with the
highlight being 4 (possibly 5) MERLINS and 4 Red Foxes. And again, the
number of gulls on the river was well over 1,000, though I didn't try
very hard to count them. Couldn't find anything beside the 4 usual
suspects (Laughing, Ring-billed, Herring & Great Black-backed) either.

Sunday morning I went to Kenilworth Park, which also had a lot of bird
activity. Nothing completely unexpected, but noteworthy were the 2
"YELLOW" PALM WARBLERS, 1 CHIPPING SPARROW and at least 2 PINE SISKINS
in with a small flock of goldfinches.

Good birding,
