It has been another active gull day at Schoolhouse Pond. I had a flyover Lesser Black-backed Gull during my early morning walk. Jim then saw the 1st winter Thayer's Gull on the pond at mid-morning before watching it fly off.

During my lunchtime gull watch, I bumped into Joe Hanfman. We refound the Thayer's Gull, saw it briefly on the water, and then got great views of it as it flew off over the pond and towards the Brown Station Road landfill. Joe also told me that he had seen a 1st winter Glaucous Gull at Schoolhouse Pond about 45 minutes earlier (a little before noon?). Unfortunately, I was unable to find this bird. But, the way the gulls seem to move around between the landfill, pond, and Jug Bay, I suppose it could turn up again later.

Right before I went in, an immature Bald Eagle passed overhead scattering all the gulls. Many then flew off.
