This morning (Fri, 11/28) I birded Anacostia River Park and Kenilworth
Park and found a nice variety of birds. Highlights at Anacostia River
Park were: 1 ad. male COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, 2 PALM WARBLERS (1 each of
Western & Yellow - next to each other in a small tree, allowing for
careful study and comparison (will they be split?)), 1 imm.
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, 1 ad. male COMMON GOLDENEYE, and 630 LAUGHING
GULLS (flying upriver is small flocks).

At Kenilworth Park the highlights were: 1 BALTIMORE ORIOLE, 4 HORNED
LARKS, 1 AMERICAN TREE SPARROW and 1 MERLIN keeping a male AMERICAN
KESTREL company (at times each was sitting on the top of one of the goal
posts - the Merlin on one side, the kestrel on the other, and at other
times they would spar on the wing - a very nice show and comparison).

This brings the number of warblers in DC these past 2 days up to 4
(Pine, Yellow-throated, Palm (both types) and Yellowthroat). Quite a
surprise - I hope some are refound during the Christmas Count.

Good birding,
