Reminder, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is having their 12 annual Open house next Saturday Dec 6th.  Bird walks at 8am.  As always there will be several artists, artisans, and authors with unique items available for purchase, as well as several activities for the kids. Visitors will be able to enjoy spectacular views of migratory waterfowl, eagles, and other wildlife and displays from the Visitor Center's second floor Observatory which overlooks many ponds, marshlands and forested areas, as well as from the 4-mile-long Wildlife Drive which runs through them. It will be open free-of-charge for this event. Ranger led tours will take place at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and an eagle prowl will leave the Visitor Center at 11 a.m. (sign up for these at the Visitor Center). If the weather cooperates, trails and the new observation pier will offer further views. Throughout the day free refreshments will be available to all to make the day more enjoyable.
