There was a good assortment of gulls on Schoolhouse Pond at lunchtime today. The highlight was a beautiful adult Lesser Black-backed Gull. Totals from today included:

1 Lesser Black-backed Gull
2 Great Black-backed Gulls (both adults)
297 Herring Gulls
372 Laughing Gulls
250 Ring-billed Gulls

Other birds present included Shovelers, a late male Wood Duck, and American Coot. Incidentally, I've only seen Trumpeter Swan #962 once over the last two and half weeks and that was over a week ago.

With the really cold weather moving in over the next few days, it could get interesting at Schoolhouse Pond once the water freezes up. With as many gulls as there were today, there could easily be twice as many once there is ice on the pond.
