Hi,

This morning at around 9 am a SNOW BUNTING flew over Kenilworth Park in northwest DC. It called, teasingly, from some distance; eventually it flew overhead, displaying its extensive white wings. Also at the park were 2 AMERICAN PIPITS (which flew overhead) and 4 or so Yellow PALM WARBLERS. Although we sorted through the Song and Savannah Sparrows, we saw no sign of American Tree Sparrow, nor did we see any white geese. One or probably two immature Cooper's Hawks were seen in/from the park, while an adult was hunting squirrels near the entrance while we were leaving. Another accipiter flew over the route 295 entry ramp, while yet another Cooper's Hawk was perched on a light fixture next to the highway near Pennsylvania Avenue.

Paul Pisano had to leave, but Gary Allport, Greg Butcher, Ariel (?) from Belgium, and I headed to Lady Bird Johnson Grove next to Columbia Island Marina, also in DC. When I arrived, Gary and crew were looking at the white-lored YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER that Paul Pisano had spotted last week. Other treats we found were a bright PINE WARBLER, one ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, a flock of 15+ PINE SISKINS, and both RED-BREASTED and White-breasted NUTHATCHes.

Noon was approaching and we all went our separate ways.

Cheers,
