I didn't arrive until about 9:45, but the temp was still only about 26F,
with high overcast. The wind was dead calm, so it wasn't so bad.
Despite being 10-15 degrees colder than a week earlier, I saw more
species, and probably more birds, today. The best was probably the
Hermit Thrush - there was no doubt about the ID, but it had the least
red in the tail that I've ever seen in that species, not very different
from the back and wings.
The big pond was completely frozen over, and I saw no birds there. The
smaller pond had a small area of open water, containing one GB Heron,
one C. Goose, and one Ring-necked Duck, all looking pretty unhappy.
