A took a lunchtime walk down to the Constitution Gardens pond.
Highlights:
At the Washington Monument: (two!) Cooper's Hawks hunting, and a Merlin
quickly passing through.
At the pond: Along with the numerous Canada Geese and Mallards: A few
American Coots, Ring-necked Ducks, a single male American Wigeon and a
single male Wood Duck.
Yesterday morning, the BIG redtail was lurking across Independence Ave
from the A&I Building, sitting on a security cameras on the corner of
the roof of DOE building.
So hawks on the Mall are numerous these days.
