Folks

I may have run into Harry Armistead's first year Brewer's Blackbird today. There was a flock of about 70 Red-winged Blackbirds (RWBL) with a few Brown-headed Cowbirds mixed in and a single young male Brewer's Blackbird feeding in a yard along Egypt Road about 1/2mile north of Key Wallace Drive. The bird I photographed was just larger then the RWBL and smaller then the American Robins near it. The eye was much darker then the other Brewer's Blackbirds I have seen in MD. This may be the first first year male I have seen here. The bird did show some blue gloss in the head. Interesting bird. The key to finding this bird might be to find the flock of RWBLs.

There were also a collection of about 30 Bald Eagles near the Decoursey Bridge Road bridge. There were three deer carcasses along the side of the road, and some of the eagles may have been sharing this bounty with the vultures and numerous Fish Crows.
