MD Osprey / MD Birds:

There is a published report in a 1969 issue of Maryland Birdlife (vol
25, number 2, p. 63) of a Green-tailed Towhee that was present
throughout January 1969 at the home of Wesley Quail "in the Liberty
Road area of Baltimore County." However, I also heard that Mr. Quail
lived in the Ruxton area, near Lake Roland, which is not near Liberty
Road. I also understand, third-hand, that this bird was documented,
but nothing ever made its way to the MD/DCRC Records Committee (which
did not exist back then). This would have been the first record of
the species in Maryland.

So my questions are:

a. Did anyone on these listservers see this bird or know anyone who
did? If so, any confirming information about the location, other
observers, etc., would be welcome. Any related anecdotes are also welcome.

b. If anyone has any field notes, write-ups, or photographs, we would
greatly appreciate receiving copies.

Thanks, much.

Phil
