Hi All, 

It looks like I might have two nights and almost 3 days to take a mini-vacation after Christmas (Fri - Sun).?? I'd like to travel not too far, but far enough from my AA county home to feel like I'm not, actually, on "staycation".? And it would help if it were fabulously birdy, yet still have amenities.? 

I've thought of Smith Island, but I am not finding much on what is open off-season there.? I went once in May, and there was one store and one restaurant open.? I'm worried that December might have even less! 

Does anyone on this list have suggestions for a one or two night, birdy, fun jaunt that - um - isn't too expensive?????
