There are two catchment ponds for the Fairwood development along Church Rd,
about 1/2 north of Route 50.
The larger one, about the size of a football field, has a series of 9
parallel nets across one end. There are poles about 8 feet apart with a wire strung
across the top supporting white plastic netting with about 1/2 in openings.
The nets extend below the surface and about 3 feet above. The rows are
about 15 feet apart. That end of the pond is also surrounded by a black plastic
'snow' fence, mostly fallen down. The nets are pretty much in tatters too.
Does anyone know the purpose of these nets? They are too flimsy for
catching debris. They don't appear to extend to the bottoms of the pond.
