Happy holidays, everyone,

As we prepare to kick off 2009, the current Maryland Yellowthroats
team must announce that we are temporarily retiring from the World
Series of Birding in Cape May, New Jersey. Between busy schedules and
a feeling of pity for the other Cape May County teams, we're going to
sit a few out. We would like to thank MOS and everyone that supported
us, which helped us win in Cape May County THREE years in a row. Thank
you, and we hope we made Maryland proud. We would like to urge
everyone to lend their support to the MOS youth teams, who are the
real stars of the World Series each year. It is important to make sure
these teams have the proper resources so they can compete. We would
also like to give a shout-out to Zach Baer, who will be competing in
his tenth World Series this year! He will be joining the Nikon
all-state team that won full state last year. Although they aren't as
cool as we are, Zach, we're sure you will do great. Oh, and if you are
the betting type, I would definitely put my money on the Queen Anne's
County High School team beating Cornell this year!

Thanks again,

Jim Brighton, Matt Hafner, Zach Baer, Hans Holbrook, Bill Hubick,
Mikey Lutmerding
