I braved the wind in search of wind-blown ducks. At about 4:00 an immature male Common Goldeneye was present near the dam. Other waterfowl was sparse. Aside from some Canadas on the grass (including a somewhat smaller and darker breasted one, though bill did not seem right for Cackling), the only other waterfowl were:
Bufflehead - 1 female
Hooded Merganser - 2 males, 1 female
Plastic jug trying to make me thing it was a Common Merganser - 1
With luck, the goldeneye will linger, restoring the Centennial New Year's goldeneye tradition.
