Folks:
This may be unethical since the info is proprietary but this is a statewide rarity. Here's what Deanna wrote in her comments on her eBird submission:
"Saw a bird we have never seen before. It is about 6.5-7 inches, has a prominent mark on chest in addition to streaks but is not a song sparrow. It has white wing patches and a small white patch behind its check. The only bird that matches in all of our bird guides is a lark bunting; can this be?"
Here's a Google map to the location:

Good luck chasing it!

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Any info on Lark Bunting, Frederick Co.?
I just saw on my iGoogle eBird gadget that there was a Lark Bunting reported
at 21791 Union Bridge, Frederick County today (on 2 JANUARY, 2009) by Deanna
Baker. Does anyone have any information on this sighting? If so, it sure
would be great to find out.
Thanks,
David
