This morning, January 3, I relocated the Yellow-throated Warbler
previously spotted a few times in the LBJ Memorial Grove just off the
(southbound only) GW Parkway. At least, I assume that it is the same
bird, since I found it in pretty much the same location.

The bird was high up in white pines in the northernmost part of the
grove, loosely associating with Chickadees and Golden-crowned
Kinglets. It did not come down very low, so I did not have the
greatest view of the head, but I am fairly sure it was of the
subspecies albilora. The dark streaks on the flanks were rather
diffuse, and I suspect that it was a female or young male, but the
sexes are very similar in this species. The throat was really yellow.

The grove, as it did two days ago, has several easy-to-locate and
noisy Winter Wrens and at least 2 Red-breasted Nuthatches.
