Saturday I drove south of the North Beach boardwalk and from the crooked Eye parking lot
I counted about
- 500 greater and lesser scaup
- 4 common golden eye
- 50 bufflehead
Sunday I took my camera to North Beach and the scene changed completely.
They were replaced by
- 250 canvasback
So I went to Herrington Harbor up the road a bit where I found
south of the marina and south of Rose Haven
- two very long strands of scaup aout 1000 each
- 500 buffle head
- 37 swan ( no yellow ) at the very north end of the marina
did not see any long tailed duck there today
It was still sunny so I drove to Lake Artemesia near Berwyn where there were
- 2000 Canadian geese
- 25 ring necked ducks near the fishing pier
- 20 coot in the back waters
- 20 ruddy duck in the back waters
By the way, I started out the day with my first ever sighting of
- 2 pine siskins at my feeder in Owings
Nice sunny days in winter are meant for birding
