Hi Everyone,

Sometimes I take a 5-minute detour on the way to school to check the northern impoundment of Rockawalking Creek at the corner of Nanticoke Rd and Oliver Dr at the western edge of Centennial Village in Wicomico County. Often the pond holds only Mallards and Canada Geese, but every now and then there's a surprise. Last year I had a nice male Redhead one day, and this morning from 10:45-11:00 am I watched a female Common Merganser on the pond. She was hanging out in the NE corner of the pond (closest to Oliver and furthest from Nanticoke)--sometimes out of view; a small wooden dock is present in this part of the pond. The merganser was still present when I left. Viewing of the pond is best from Oliver--a quiet street with space to pull out of the way of any cars that may happen by. Always good to get a new one for the home county list!

Have fun,
