Hi all,

Yesterday (10 January) Jo Anna Leachman and I spent an amazing day on
the Eastern Shore. Bill Hubick's previous post sums up our early
morning visit to Cambridge, the pictures I got of the BARROW'S
GOLDENEYE are of documentation quality, I would have liked to have
gotten better shots, but she was very skittish and the last thing I
wanted to do was flush the bird. In Ocean City, we started at the
inlet where the highlight was a RAZORBILL that Jo Anna located as it
fed ~75 yards off the beach north of the jetty, at one point it was
about 30 yards off the beach giving good albeit brief views. From
there we headed to 33rd Street where were able to relocate the EARED
GREBE. We headed south; at Eagles Nest Campground a FORSTER'S TERN
was roosting on the flats among all the usual suspects. Bayside
development pond had the usual assortment of ducks, but the highlight
here came in the form of an ORANGE CROWNED WARBLER hanging out in a
patch of scrub along the road, I managed a few shots of the bird, and
in one of the out of focus shots, you can actually see the birds
orange "crown". At Rumbly point road, we located a flock of 65
BOAT-TAILED GRACKLES foraging near the road as well as LESSER and
GREATER YELLOWLEGS. We ended at Deal Island WMA where we had an
amazing flight of ~50 BLACK CROWNED NIGHT HERONS over the marsh in the
rain.

Pictures of the Tufted Duck, Barrow's Goldeneye, Orange Crowned
Warbler, and Razorbill can be seen at:
