Saturday was a great day of birding in MD for Amy and I. We went down to see theTUFTED DUCK (Photos) at the Marina in Cambridge and for our trouble we receiveda bonus FEMALE BARROW'S GOLDENEYE (Photos). The EURASION WIDGEON (Photos) that hasbeen a no show for several days also decided to make a return. All three birdswere viewable from this same Marina in Cambridge at the same time. Quite acongregation. From there we headed to Ocean City on route 50 and on our way wehad nice looks at 4 ADULT BALD EAGLES. The first was perched in a tree a bit offthe highway. Numbers 2 and 3 were fighting each other in mid-air over thehighway. Amy saw number 4 attack a snow goose in flight and knock it out of thesky. I pulled over and we watched this mexican stand-off as the BALD EAGLEstared at the SNOW GOOSE (Photo) who was injured but not dead. The Snow goosetried to fly and the Eagle lept on it but the Goose was still too feisty and theEagle backed off again and stared. Finally the Eagle flew from the field to aperch in the trees, we suppose to wait the bird out. Amy was a little saddenedby the goose's plight but we agreed an eagle's got to eat too. In OceanCity we struck out on the King Eider that was reported Friday at the inlet but33rd street still held one EARED GREBE (Distant Photos) along with 3 HORNEDGREBES. Amy also found a PALM WARBLER on 33rd street while we were looking forthe grebe. A great day! Thanks to all the very nice birders we met in MD.regards, jeff Downingtown, PA Checkout our bird photos at the link below: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffamy/
