The Bottom Lines for the Saturday, January 17 reports from Cambridge:

    1. Icy conditions on the piers and icy conditions of the water make
things terribly trecherous out there. Be very careful if you decide to go
out onto the piers, especially true on the low cement parts, but also true
on the wooden parts. Lots of good viewing can occur without going out onto
the piers.

    2. Three species of "special" ducks were seen today:
            - Eurasian Wigeon only very early in the morning and by very few
peopel.
             - Tufted Duck seen close and well
            - Barrow's Goldeneye seen pretty well though the bird is still
quite skittish
--- and some reports suggest there may be two or even three
Goldeneye with
yellow bills. Two with bills alike, as have been shown
on photos of the agreed
upon Barrow's Goldeneye, and another with at least some
yellow on the bill.
